Elena runs intensively and escapes. While fighting against her asthma, Patricia tries to reach her and she witnesses a situation that can no longer be hidden.
Elena corre con fuerza y escapa. Patricia trata de alcanzarla mientras lucha contra su asma, es testigo de una situación que ya no puede ocultarse.
– Short Synopsis / Sinopsis Corta:
Elena runs in the middle of the night. Patricia tries to reach her friend but her asthma prevents her from doing so. When Patricia finds Elena’s cell phone on the grass, an incoming phone call confirms her suspicions. Patricia’s attempts to help her friend expose her more than necessary. From the tension to the stillness of the night you can tell something has changed.
Elena corre en medio de la noche, Patricia trata de alcanzarla pero su asma se lo impide. Cuando encuentra tirado el celular de Elena, un llamado confirma sus intuiciones. Al intentar ayudarla, Patricia se expondrá más de la cuenta, de la tensión a la quietud de la noche algo ha cambiado.

GABRIEL ELETTORE
Gabriel Elettore was born in the city of Cordoba, Argentina in 1987. As he has a bachelor’s degree in Film and Television, he actively participates in feature films, shorts, web series, and, advertising spots. He is a member of “The audiovisual cooperative” together with film and theater colleagues in Cordoba. As a director and scriptwriter, Gabriel has left his mark on shorts such as ‘White Mud’ (winner of Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress in the 48 Hour Film Project in 2016), ‘Red’ (second place winner of the Access to Justice Contest of the Council of the Magistracy in 2016), and ‘On the alert’ (winner of the second place on the podium, Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actor).
Gabriel Elettore nace en Córdoba, Argentina, en 1987. Licenciado en Cine y Tv, participa activamente en largometrajes, cortometrajes, series web y spots publicitarios. Es miembro de La Cooperativa Audiovisual con compañeros de cine y teatro. Director y guionista, fue forjando su impronta con cortometrajes tales como Barro blanco (ganador de mejor actor y actriz de reparto en el 48hrs Film Project, 2016), Rojo (2do puesto en Concurso Acceso a la Justicia del Consejo de la Magistratura, 2016), y El peso del verbo (2do puesto en el 48hrs Film Project, mejor director, actriz y actor de reparto, 2018).
– Director’s Statement / Declaraciones del Director:
How do bodies react? They react as they can according to the context they go through. There are uncertainties; doors are opened and decisions are made. The emphasis is on those traits that reveal and lead the characters to move around certain paths. I believe “After classes” goes foremost about a strong bond between two women in an adverse environment. An environment that imprisons them and in which everything that has not been said appears. The intention is to show a little piece of a larger universe with its own life which is close but unknown to the spectator. I wanted to start the story in the middle of the development without further ado. Starting at the exact breaking point in the reality of one of the protagonists or of both of them, since everything is happening goes through them. Something is perceived that later on hits you hard. There is a situation that blows up in your face and can not be contained. As a filmmaker, I am interested in those moments in which repressed feelings start to bloom -when everything that seems stable, vanishes. I want to distance myself from Costumbrism to reflect usual social realities by starting with details to, later on, build the story. I follow the protagonists through their paths and their personal history which goes beyond the short. It is their history what allows them to take action. The answers begin to appear on their own. “After classes” makes reference to everything that is behind certain situations or hidden. It wouldn’t be possible to reach those situations without focusing on them. Formal institutions do not seem to help realities like the one depicted in the short. There is constant work to do and that work is even closer than we think.
¿Cómo reaccionan los cuerpos?, como pueden hacerlo en el contexto que atraviesan. Hay incertidumbres, se abren puertas, y se toman decisiones. Se hace hincapié en esos rasgos que develan que lleva a los personajes a transitar ciertos caminos. Creo que “Después de clases”, ante todo, es sobre un vínculo fuerte entre dos mujeres en un entorno adverso. Ese entorno que las aprisiona y por el que aparece todo lo “no dicho”. La intención es mostrar un fragmento de un universo más grande, con vida propia, y cercano al espectador, aunque lo desconozca. Quería arrancar la historia en el medio del desarrollo, sin preámbulos, en el punto exacto del quiebre en la realidad de una de las protagonistas, o en la de las dos, porque todo lo que está pasando las atraviesa. Hay algo que se percibe pero en algún momento te golpea de frente. Se maneja una situación que explota y no puede contenerse. Como realizador me interesan los momentos en que empiezan a aflorar sensaciones reprimidas, cuando lo establecido desaparece. Quiero alejarme del costumbrismo para reflejar lo cotidiano, una realidad social, partiendo del detalle para empezar a construir. Acompaño a las protagonistas siguiendo su recorrido, y en función de la historia particular de cada una que excede al cortometraje, pueden empezar a accionar con elementos propios. Las respuestas comienzan a aparecer por si solas. “Después de clases” hace referencia a todo lo que está detrás de ciertas situaciones u oculta de una manera a la que no podríamos llegar sin hacer foco en ello. Hay realidades donde las instituciones quedan a mitad de camino, el trabajo es continuo y mucho más cercano de lo que creemos.
