- Short Synopsis / Sinopsis Corta:
A suffocating summer afternoon. Iñaki (11) lies between the semi-naked bodies of his brothers and his father. Outside, it starts to rain. Between play and desire, Iñaki kisses the back of his father. Inside, it starts to rain too. Iñaki uses his imagination to get through the situation. The guilt of exploring his sexual awakening confronts him with the fear of non-acceptance.
Una asfixiante tarde de verano. Iñaki (11) se acuesta entre los cuerpos semidesnudos de sus hermanos y su padre. Afuera, comienza a llover. Entre juego y deseo, Iñaki besa la espalda de su padre. Dentro, también comienza a llover. La culpa por explorar su sexualidad lo enfrentará a sus peores temores y recurrirá a su imaginación para atravesar la situación.

Inside, it starts to rain too. The brothers shift into rabid animals and his father into a sleeping giant. The room begins to flood. Holding his breath, Iñaki uses his imagination to get through the situation. The guilt of exploring his sexual awakening confronts him with the fear of non-acceptance.
Una monótona y asfixiante tarde de verano en las afueras. Iñaki (11) se ubica entre los cuerpos semidesnudos de sus hermanos y su padre que duermen la siesta. Afuera, comienza a llover. Entre sueño, juego y deseo Iñaki besa la espalda de su padre. Dentro, también comienza a llover. Los hermanos se tornan animales rabiosos que acorralan a Iñaki y su padre en un gigante dormido. El cuarto comienza a inundarse. La culpa por explorar su sexualidad lo enfrentará a sus peores temores y recurrirá a su imaginación para atravesar la situación.

Ignacio Lillini (1987) lives in Córdoba, Argentina. He studied Social Communication at UNER. Animator and director at Cha Animation and Osa Estudio, where he creates “Aire”, “Llovía” y “Besitos”. Founding member of APA Association of Animation Producers and APA LAB. He was producer of «El niño y la noche» by Claudia Ruiz, and programmer of the Internacional Animation Festival «El Ventilador».
Ignacio Lillini (1987) vive en Córdoba, Argentina. Estudió Comunicación Social en la UNER. Es animador y director en Cha Animation y Osa Estudio, desde donde crea “Aire”, “Llovía” y “Besitos”. Miembro fundador de APA Asociación de Productorxs de Animación y APA LAB. Fue productor de «El niño y la noche» de Claudia Ruiz, y programador del Festival Internacional de Animación «El Ventilador».
- Director’s Statement / Declaraciones del Director:
“Llovía” tells a summer story where Iñaki, a 7-year-old boy, and his brothers are forced to take a nap. «It was a stormy night, outside it was raining and inside it was also raining» was the story that his father repeated like a mantra to make them sleep. Out of fatigue, everyone falls asleep except Iñaki, who begins to observe the ‘siesta’ with strange depth and imagination. The rain that the father repeated deceptively materializes in Iñaki’s imagination. Product of his boredom, between play and desire he kisses the back of his father. This unleashes an intense storm over the room, creating a sensory experience that will forever transform the child’s bond with the environment around him. “Llovía” proposes an experience where the real and the imaginary intertwine in the same universe in an almost invisible way and where the sensory beauty of childhood flourishes from that land where the non-existence of social and cultural mandates, allowing the exploration of the world in freedom. We experience the world around us through our own bodies, driven by desire and what can happen beyond what is right or what is forbidden. There on the border, before our eyes, on our body, new meanings to existence are given. Despite this new and unknown experience, it also generates fear. On the one hand, internal fear of discovering who we are, but even more fear of the environment that surrounds us because we need our loved ones to accept us as we are. Iñaki faces an emotional revelation about his sexuality that he will be able to assume when he manages to pause that outside world in his mind, breathe and consummate the dream. “Llovia” seeks to recover that cultural mysticism that the ‘siesta’ produces, that universe of myths, legends, and sensations that the childhood of different generations in the suburbs of Latin America goes through and that make up his landscape. “Llovia” has the intention of investigating through animated language about childhood, perception, eroticism in masculinity, limits, desire, and fear of the unknown.
LLOVÍA cuenta una historia de verano donde Iñaki un niño de 7 años junto a sus hermanos son obligados a dormir la siesta. “Era una noche tormentosa, afuera llovía y adentro también llovía” era el relato que su padre repetía cual mantra para llevarlos al sueño. Por cansancio todos se duermen salvo Iñaki, que comienza a observar la siesta con extraña profundidad e imaginación. La lluvia que repetía el padre se aproxima engañosamente en el imaginario de Iñaki. Producto de su aburrimiento, entre juego y deseo besa la espalda de su padre. Esto desata una tormenta intensa sobre la habitación, desencadenando una experiencia sensorial que transformará para siempre el lazo del niño con el entorno que lo rodea. Llovía propone una experiencia donde lo real y lo imaginario se entrelazan en un mismo universo de manera casi invisible y la belleza sensorial de la infancia florece de esa tierra donde todavía reina la inexistencia de los mandatos sociales y culturales para la exploración del mundo en libertad. Experimentamos el mundo que nos rodea a través de nuestro propio cuerpo impulsado por el deseo y aquello que pueda suceder más allá de lo que está bien o lo que está prohibido. Allí en la frontera, ante nuestros ojos, sobre nuestro cuerpo, otorgando nuevos sentidos a la existencia. No obstante esa experiencia nueva y desconocida, también nos genera miedo. Por un lado, miedo interior de descubrirnos quienes somos, pero más aún el miedo hacia el entorno que nos rodea porque necesitamos que nuestros seres queridos nos acepten tal cual somos. Iñaki se enfrenta a una revelación emocional sobre su sexualidad que podrá asumir cuando logre pausar ese mundo exterior en su mente, respirar y consumar el sueño. Llovía busca recuperar ese misticismo cultural que produce la siesta, ese universo de mitos, leyendas y sensaciones que atraviesa la infancia de distintas generaciones al interior de Latinoamérica y que conforman su paisaje. Llovía tiene la intención de indagar a través del lenguaje animado sobre la infancia, la percepción, el erotismo en la masculinidad, los límites, el deseo y el miedo a lo desconocido.
