– Short Synopsis / Sinopsis Corta:
Manuel and Lucio are friends with a conflicting bond. Lucio challenges Manuel to show his worth by throwing balls of wet toilet paper at the cars that pass from the terrace. A vehicle brakes violently and a couple looking for the offender get out. Courage will take on a new meaning.
Manuel y Lucio son amigos con un vínculo conflictivo. Para que Manuel demuestre su valor, Lucio lo desafía a lanzar bolas de papel higiénico mojado desde la terraza a los autos que pasan. Un vehículo frena con violencia y se baja una pareja que busca al culpable: la valentía adoptará un significado nuevo.
– Long Synopsis / Sinopsis Larga:
Manuel and Lucio are friends, but they have a conflicting bond. Lucio constantly mocks Manuel and calls him a chicken. One early morning, Lucio challenges Manuel to show his worth by throwing balls of wet toilet paper at the cars that pass from the terrace without waking up Lucio’s father, who is sleeping. When hitted, one of the cars brakes violently and a couple gets out looking for the offender. In the face of danger, courage will take on a new meaning.
Manuel y Lucio son amigos, pero tienen un vínculo conflictivo. Lucio se burla constantemente de Manuel y lo considera un cagón. Una madrugada, Lucio propone un desafío para que Manuel demuestre su valor: lanzar bolas de papel higiénico mojado a los autos que pasan desde la terraza evitando despertar al padre de Lucio, que duerme. Al recibir el impacto, un vehículo frena violentamente y se baja una pareja buscando al culpable. Ante el peligro, la valentía adoptará un nuevo significado.

ANDRÉS BRANDARIZ
Andrés Brandariz was born in Buenos Aires. He is an Image & Sound Desginer graduated on the FADU-UBA, where he also taught. He studied Screenwriting at the ENERC. Writer and director of the short films “ANA” (2015), “Four Thirty” (2020) and the institutional documentary “The Frontier’s Weave” (2019).
Andrés Brandariz nació en Buenos Aires. Es Diseñador de Imagen & Sonido graduado en la FADU-UBA, donde también ejerció la docencia. Estudió Guión en la ENERC. Entre sus cortometrajes como guionista y realizador figuran “Ana” (2015), “Las Cuatro y Media” (2020) y el documental institucional “La Trama de la Frontera” (2019).
– Director’s Statement / Declaraciones del Director:
“Four Thirty” is a hug to the child I once was. An uncomfortable child, and full of fears. Some were obvious, others were hidden. Mischief, playing risk, was a way of reaffirming childhood. But sometimes, it was also the measure of a worth that had to be constantly reaffirmed. In the world map of Four Thirty -delimited by a house, a terrace and a street- the game also asks for responsibility. Taking charge carries the inevitable risk of growing up, but opens the possibility of an intimate and honest encounter, of being able to see a vulnerable friend and get closer to him. I was lucky enough to be able to film “Las Cuatro y Media” with a wonderful crew and cast, which made me very happy and proud. I hope that I can do the same with you as viewers.
“Las Cuatro y Media” es un abrazo al niño que fui. Un niño incómodo, lleno de miedos: algunos evidentes, otros más disimulados. La travesura, jugar al riesgo, era una manera de reivindicar la niñez, pero a veces también era la medida de un valor que tenía que reafirmarse constantemente. En el mapamundi de “Las Cuatro y Media” -delimitado por una casa, una terraza y una calle- el juego también pide responsabilidad. En hacerse cargo late el riesgo inevitable de crecer, pero también la posibilidad de un encuentro íntimo y honesto, de poder ver a un amigo vulnerable y acercarse más a él. Tuve la suerte de poder filmar “Las Cuatro y Media” junto a un equipo y un elenco maravillosos, lo cual me trajo felicidad y orgullo. Espero que con ustedes, como espectadores, pueda hacer lo mismo.
