  • Director’s Statement Declaraciones del Director:

HARE is narrated among the mountains of Iguaque in the territory of Boyacá, the place where I lived all my childhood and where I learned to observe and appreciate the small details of life. Thanks to the nature that surrounded me I could feel the mysticism that is hidden in that mountain and perceive the mysteries, the spiritual force, and the energy that influences the territory. It is a place full of mysteries, surrounded by myths and legends that the women of the region shared with me; stories about the beliefs of the witches and the spirits of Iguaque. As a result, I think that the essence of life is in what we cannot see but can perceive; in that place where the mystical and the real exist side by side, in the shadow of the unknown. These themes have accompanied me throughout my artistic career, and define my interest in the genre of suspense and horror. Hare is an autobiographical story, in this way I collect the memories of my past, and through fiction, I expose my wounds to find a way to heal. That is why this short film is born from the urgency to reflect on femininity in its darkest stages and the burden and pain that a woman goes through in her life. With this project, I want to make a reflection on feminine power through the mysticism that women carry from their roots. This is a way to honor the women who accompanied me in my life and the ancestral knowledge of the fields of Boyacá.
