Adolfito and her grandma Isadora meet in the park after a while without seeing each other. The distance between both benches will become shorter when their ruses fight to reach the weak point of the other.

Adolfito and her grandma Isadora meet at the park after a long time without seeing each other. The distance between both benches will become more narrow as they trick each other trying to find their weaknesses. A tender short film with a black tone inspired by the characters of Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s and Sylvain Chomet’s films.

Adolfito y su abuela Isadora se reencuentran en una plaza luego de un tiempo sin verse. La distancia de un banco al otro se verá rápidamente acortada cuando sus artimañas se ponen en movimiento para herirse hasta llegar a los puntos más débiles de cada uno. Un cortometraje grotesco, tierno, y con humor negro en un tono que la directora concibió inspirado en el cine francés de Jean-Pierre Jeunet y Sylvain Chomet.

Director´s Biography / Biografía del Director:

LUCÍA PAZ

Lucia Paz is a filmmaker who has directed three short films “A family recipe”, “Hic Locus” and “A great smoker” and two documentaries “What my body expresses” and “Wrinkles”. She has won the Historias Breves Prize for produce “Palito Bombon Helado”. In 2019, she won a scholarship and travelled to China to shoot “Jiaotong”. At present, she is post-producing a web series and she is developing her first feature film.

Lucía Paz es realizadora cinematográfica. Dirigió los cortometrajes de ficción “Una receta familiar”, “Hic Locus”, “Un gran fumador”; y los documentales “Lo que dice mi cuerpo” y “Vejeces”. En 2017 obtuvo el Premio Historia Breves para producir “Palito Bombón Helado”, y en 2019 viajó becada a China rodando allí “Jiaotong”. Actualmente se encuentra postproduciendo una serieweb y en desarrollo de su ópera prima.

Director’s Statement / Declaraciones del Director:

“Pops vs Raisins” is about a game, one of many games grandparents and grandchildren share together. There are no reservations with our grandparents. There is only a funny and honest audacity that makes that bond special. There are also some bad grandparents. How many times have we heard the expression ´My kind Grandma´ versus ´my bad Grandma´? This short film tries to empathize and vindicate that unique playful battle of crucial learning that exists among grandparents and their grandchildren.

“Palito Bombón Helado” se trata de un juego, uno más de los tantos que abuelxs y nietxs han jugado. Con nuestros abuelxs no hay tapujos, hay un desparpajo honesto y divertido que hace único al vínculo. Y también hay abuelxs jodidos, ¿cuántas veces hemos escuchado o dicho “mi abuela buena”, y “mi abuela, la mala”? Este cortometraje busca entrar en complicidad y reivindicar esta batalla lúdica y de aprendizaje vital que se dan entre abuelxs y nietxs.
