Una niña y su muñeca van juntas a todas partes. A veces el mundo puede ser hostil.
– Synopsis Corta / Short Synopsis:
Animated short film about children´s need for love. While her father works day and night gathering recycled cardboard in the street, Nina is cared for by her grandmother who does not love her. Nina endures the lack of affection thanks to a doll who is a constant companion. One day it falls in the street and her grandmother does not allow her to pick it up. Nina decides to go back to look for her doll but gets lost in the city. Finally her father, on the way home, finds the doll in the street and then her lost daughter. Together they return home.
Cortometraje de animación que trata sobre la necesidad de afecto en los niños. Mientras su padre trabaja día y noche recogiendo cartones, Nina es cuidada por su abuela quien no la quiere. Nina soporta la falta de cariño gracias a una muñeca que la acompaña a todas partes. Un día se le cae en la calle y su abuela no le permite recogerla. Muy triste, Nina decide salir a buscar su muñeca pero se pierde. Finalmente su padre, en la vuelta a casa, encuentra la muñeca en la calle y luego a su hija perdida. Juntos vuelven a la casa.
– Synopsis / Sinopsis:
Nina is a girl who must spend the days with her grandmother who does not love her. Meanwhile, her father works night and day collecting cardboard. Nina endures the lack of affection thanks to a doll that accompanies her everywhere. One day the doll falls on the street and the grandmother does not allow her to stop to pick it up. Nina suffers a deep sadness until she decides to leave in search of her doll but ends up getting lost herself in the city. Returning home at night, her father finds the doll and then her lost daughter in the street. Together they return home.
Nina es una niña que debe pasar los días junto a una abuela que no la quiere. Mientras tanto su padre trabaja noche y día juntando cartones. Nina atraviesa el dolor por la falta de afecto gracias a una muñeca que la acompaña a todas partes. Un día la muñeca se le cae en la calle y la abuela no le permite detenerse a recogerla. Nina sufre una tristeza profunda hasta que decide salir en busca de su muñeca pero termina perdiéndose en la ciudad. En su regreso nocturno, su padre encuentra la muñeca y la carga en su carro de cartonero. Luego encuentra a su hija perdida en la calle. Juntos regresan al hogar.
– Director´s Biography / Biografía del Director:
ISABEL MACIAS
Formed initially as a Visual Art teacher, I later devoted myself to animation cinema dealing with both classic and experimental cartoon techniques. I taught Visual and Audiovisual Art at the University. I currently work in the Animation Department of the Film Institute of Avellaneda, IDAC. I´m founding member of the Argentine Association of Animated Film and I belong to the Red de Mujeres Animadoras. My short films include “The post office”, “The girl”, “The button”, “Nina”, “On the roadside” and “Requested Password”.
Formada inicialmente como docente de Artes Visuales, se dedicó posteriormente al cine de animación abordando tanto técnicas de dibujo animado clásico como experimentales. Ha trabajado como docente de artes visuales y audiovisuales en el nivel terciario y superior. En la actualidad da clases en el Departamento de Animación del Instituto de Cine de Avellaneda, IDAC. Es miembro fundador de la Asociación Argentina de Cine de Animación. Pertenece a la Red de Mujeres Animadoras. Entre sus cortos se encuentran “El Correo”, “La nena”, “El botón”, “Nina”, “En la banquina” y “Requested Password”.
– Director’s Statement / Declaraciones del Director:
Living on the edge of the mouth, with the attention permanently placed on ensuring just subsistence, puts people to the test. Some open their eyes and build their lives with their close ones; others lock themselves in and only pay attention to themselves. If poverty is an injustice, children suffer the most. Children need the loving look of their caregivers, if this is missing, the world is very hostile. I have worked for many years with children living in poverty. The simplest thing to do is to bring a plate of food and a coat. The most difficult thing, to build a safe and loving environment so that each one of them feels loved. To embrace again, to feel in the skin that we are recognized and necessary is the most beautiful thing we can do. Textiles are our second skin, they wrap us, they cover us, they adorn us. I always work with fabrics that have stories, they have been someone’s dress, the tablecloth of some table, the coat of another. In the film all these stories are superimposed, they speak to us and they ask us to keep engaged in embracing ourselves to be definitely happier.
Vivir en condiciones de precariedad, con la atención puesta permanentemente en asegurarse apenas la subsistencia, pone a prueba a las personas. Algunas abren su mirada y construyen su vida con sus seres próximos; otros se encierran y solo ponen atención en sí mismos. Si la pobreza es una injusticia, quienes más la sufren son los niños. Ellos necesitan la mirada amorosa de sus cuidadores, si ésta falta, el mundo es muy hostil. He trabajado muchos años con niños en situación de pobreza. Lo más sencillo es acercar un plato de comida y un abrigo. Lo más difícil, construir un ambiente seguro y amoroso para que cada uno de ellos se sienta querido. Volver al abrazo, a sentir en la piel que somos reconocidos y necesarios es lo más hermoso que podemos hacer. Los textiles son nuestra segunda piel, nos abrigan, nos cubren, nos adornan. Siempre trabajo con telas que tienen historias, han sido el vestido de alguien, el mantel de alguna mesa, el abrigo de otro. En la película se superponen todas esas historias, nos hablan y nos piden que sigamos empeñados en abrazarnos para ser definitivamente más felices.
