In a restless city, an ex-teen couple reunites in a motel. They go through a series of situations where they will realize that this is their last encounter. Both will embark on a psychedelic journey looking for what they lack.
En una ciudad inquieta, una ex pareja adolescente se encuentra para ir a un hotel alojamiento. Allí atraviesan una serie de situaciones que dan cuenta que éste es su último encuentro. Ambos emprenderán un viaje psicodélico en la noche porteña buscando eso que tanto les falta.
– Synopsis / Sinopsis:
In a restless city and with the world cup final about to be played, an ex-teen couple reunites in a motel. They go through a series of situations where they will realize that this is their last encounter. Ailín confesses a secret from the past, while Pedro restrains his feelings and invites her to take ecstasy. Flowing between the excitements, both will embark on a psychedelic journey looking for what they lack.
En una ciudad inquieta y con la final del mundo por jugarse, una ex pareja adolescente se encuentra para ir a un hotel alojamiento. Allí atraviesan una serie de situaciones que dan cuenta que éste es su último encuentro. Ailín confiesa una verdad del pasado, mientras que Pedro reprime sus sentimientos y la invita a tomar éxtasis. Fluyendo en la excitación y las sustancias, emprenderán un viaje psicodélico en la noche porteña buscando eso que tanto les falta.

CARLA FINCO
Carla Finco was born in 1990 in Río Negro, Argentina. She concluded her studies in Film Directing at the Universidad del Cine. She has directed two short films. DESQUICIES (Demented Girls, 2016) premiered at the Young Art Biennial of Buenos Aires 2017 and LOS ROTOS (The Broken Ones, 2017) was selected for the development program Youth Art Biennial 2017, obtained Cultural Patronage Grant 2016, won the Metropolitan Art Fund 2017 and premiered in BAFICI 20 in the Short Films Official Competition. She has recently won the short film INCAA competition Historias Breves with her project ERRANTES which is now on pre-production stage. Also, she is developing her first feature film SOY PUTA, pre-selected at the 11th INCAA Competition Raymundo Glayzer.
Carla Finco nació en 1990 en Río Negro, Argentina. Estudió dirección cinematográfica en la Universidad del Cine. Dirigió dos cortometrajes: DESQUICIES (2016) estrenado en la Bienal de Arte Joven 2017 y LOS ROTOS (2017) ganador de Fondo Mecenazgo 2016, seleccionado en la Bienal de Arte Joven 2017, ganador del Fondo Metropolitano de las Artes 2017 y estrenado en BAFICI 20 en la Competencia Oficial de Cortometrajes. Actualmente, ganó el concurso Historias Breves con el cortometraje ERRANTES, que se encuentra en etapa de preproducción. En paralelo, desarrolla su ópera prima SOY PUTA, preseleccionada para el 11º Concurso Federal de Desarrollo de Proyectos de Largometrajes Raymundo Glayzer 2018.
– Director’s Statement / Declaraciones del Director:
THE BROKEN ONES was inspired in a personal experience. The last encounter with an ex-boyfriend in a hot-sheet hotel. Although everything that happened was different, the short-film takes that “rendez-vous” as an excuse to narrate the breakdown of a loving relationship between two young characters (Ailín and Pedro), and along with it, the breakup of their intimate and personal universe. This story uses their reunion as an excuse to talk about denial, detachment, heartbreak, and also indifference. That night, the characters suffer a transformation; as a screenwriter and director I was interested in exploring this. With shattered and full of denial characters, I wanted to work on the excess as a concept that crosses the couple as well as in their personal lives. This is the reason I have chosen the strident color lights, the excess of textures in the scenes, the hand held camera and even certain resources that refer to the perceptive disorders of using drugs and vices. These are all key elements in the photographic treatment of the short-film. The big hot-sheet hotel – a place that is searched for unleashing fantasies – is not more than a scenery for Ailín and Pedro, who play love, and surrender to the diverse and contradictorily feelings of each moment. THE BROKEN ONES proposes a look inside of someone that lives on expectation and refuses to be let down.
LOS ROTOS nace a partir del último encuentro con un ex novio en un hotel alojamiento. Si bien todo lo que sucedió fue distinto, el corto toma esa cita como excusa para narrar el quiebre de una relación amorosa entre dos jóvenes (Ailín y Pedro), y con eso la ruptura de su universo íntimo y personal. Esta narración toma su reencuentro para hablar de aspectos como la negación, lo que cuesta soltar a alguien y que duela, el desamor y, sobre todo, la indiferencia. Mis protagonistas esa noche entran al telo siendo unos y salen siendo otros; como realizadora y guionista me interesó narrar la transformación interna en ellos. Con personajes negadores y reventados, quise trabajar los excesos tanto en la pareja como en sus vidas personales. Es por esta razón que utilicé luces de colores estridentes, el exceso de texturas en cuadro, la cámara en mano e, incluso, ciertos recursos que remiten a las alteraciones perceptivas propias del consumo y los vicios. Éstos son elementos fundamentales en el tratamiento fotográfico del corto. El gran hotel de alojamiento -lugar que busca dar rienda suelta a la fantasía- no es más que un decorado para Ailín y Pedro que juegan al amor, entregándose a los diversos y contradictorios sentimientos de cada momento. LOS ROTOS propone una mirada hacia adentro. Una mirada al interior de quien vive de las expectativas y se niega a ser decepcionado.
