La moza y el cocinero tienen un restaurante trucho y engañan a aus clientes, pero una noche se descubre su fraude.
– Synopsis / Sinopsis:
The waitress and the cook have a fine Italian restaurant, but they don´t cook, a pizza boy delivers the pizza and all the rest is fake: The sound of the kitchen comes from a cassette recorder, the trash is only paper, even the rats are false. One night, the delivery boy is late. While the waitress and the cook are waiting, the trouble begins and the unexpected happened.
La moza y el cocinero tienen un noble restaurante italiano, pero ellos no cocinan, sino piden la pizza de un delivery. Todo es trucho: El ambiente de la cocina viene de un casette recorder, la basura contiene solo papel y los ratones son falsos. Una noche, el delivery llega tarde. Mientras la moza y el cocinero esperan a su llegada empiezan los problemas y ocurre lo no esperado.

KATHRIN FRANK
KATHRIN FRANK, studied journalism in Germany and film in Buenos Aires. Worked for the television industry and the radio as a news editor, autor and casting director. She directed two documentaries and 3 short films, which had been in the official selection in various international film festivals and broadcasted in TV. She produced music videos and short films and worked as an assistant director and assistant producer. Now she is in the pre-production of her First Feature Film “Cruzadas”.
KATHRIN FRANK, estudió periodismo en Alemania y cine en Buenos Aires. Trabajó para la televisión y la radio como redactora, autora y jefa de casting. Dirigió́ dos documentales que se mostraron en la televisión. Como directora realizó tres cortometrajes que se presentaron en festivales internacionales. Participó en varios proyectos como jefa de producción, asistente de dirección y asistente de producción. Ahora se encuentra en la pre-producción de su opera prima “Cruzadas”.

“La moza y el cocinero“ is my third short film. For some years I had the idea of making a short film in only one sequence. Also, I wanted to break through conventional concepts and create an experimental short film with different elements like comedy, theatre, cinema, and musical.
I was inspired by the Swedish director Roy Anderson who created, with his trilogy “Songs from the second floor“, “You, the living“ and “A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence,“ a good example of what creativity and humor can do in cinema. His characteristic absurd surrealism mixed with social criticism is one of the things I wanted to create in my short film.
Roy Anderson only uses one fixed, static shot per sequence, I wanted to use this technique where the actors are moving from A to B, creating small scene in a large picture. Like in the movies from Anderson, the actors of my short film are a little bit depressed and not able to express their strength totally.
Also, I wanted to play with time and the feeling of time. How often do we miss something in a movie because it all happened too fast. In “La moza y el cocinero” the audience can enjoy the short film and is able to recognize, discover and enjoy all the details and the sound, revealing itself slowly. The audience is almost part of the scene, they can observe in “real time” what happens.
The story itself is inspired in the musicals and the comedy films from the 50’s and 40’s. I wanted create a comedy where all is false. To create this, I used a theatrical scenography with a real location. The short film creates a fantastic atmosphere, but verosimil world, that you can imagine yourself in.
“La moza y el cocinero” es mi tercer cortometraje. Desde varios años tenía la idea de hacer un cortometraje que tiene solo un plano. También quería romper con el cine convencional y sus conceptos y crear un corto experimental, que juega con diferentes elementos como la comedia, el teatro, el cine y el musical.
Me inspiró en el trabajo del director Roy Anderson y su trilogía “Songs from the second floor“, “You, the living“ y “A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence”. El mostró, como la creatividad, la crítica social y el humor pueden formar un mundo abstracto, surrealista y cómico. Roy Anderson usa en cada secuencia un plano fijo. Yo quería construir algo similar en el corto. Los personajes se mueven de un punto A a un punto B y crean mini escenas dentro de un plano general. Como en las películas de Roy Anderson, mis personajes son un poco depresivos. No tienen la capacidad de mostrar toda su fuerza y energía.
También quería jugar con el tiempo y el sentido del tiempo. Cuantas veces estamos mirando una película, donde perdemos la mitad de las cosas porque la edición y la velocidad de la narración son demasiado rápido. En “La moza y el cocinero”, el público puede disfrutar y descubrir en 13 minutos un mundo ambiental y sonoro, que se les revela de a poco. Casi como el espectador fuera parte de la escena, observando lo que ocurre.
La historia está inspirada por los musicales viejos. Yo quería crear una comedía, donde todo es falso. Para crearlo usaba una escenografía teatral en un ambiente real. El cortometraje así crea una atmosfera fantástica, pero a la vez verosímil, donde el espectador puede identificarse.
