– Synopsis/ Sinopsis:
A man wakes up one morning. Has had a strange dream. During the course of that day, encrypted events and human appearances are mixed in a dreamlike abyss, hallucinogenic and real. In this situation, he seeks to understand that ambiguous context in wich he is immersed.
Un hombre despierta una mañana. Ha tenido un sueño extraño. Durante el transcurso del día sucesos encriptados y apariciones humanas se mezclan en un abismo onírico, alucinógeno y real. Ante esta situación, él busca comprender ese ambiguo contexto en el que está inmerso.
– Director´s Biography / Biografía de la Directora:
ARIEL MÉNDEZ – FACUNDO TUST
The directors were born in Córdoba, Argentina. They are both college student, Ariel is working on his degree in Logistics and Facundo is a lawyer to be. Both careers are outside the scope of the visual arts, wich points out a true interest in these by the subjects that can be seen in other works in this field. They started working on similar projects for the past three years, writing ideas, scripts, using photography and films to try to capture through images all those essays that later on were embodied in this work, their premier work. During this work they have been embedded in a creative process that allowed them to experience and execute an aim, based in foundations and techniques learnt during constant toil and undertake a way to improving the audio-visual technique.
Los directores, Ariel Méndez y Facundo Tust, nacieron en Córdoba, Argentina. Son estudiantes universitarios de Licenciatura en Logística y Derecho respectivamente, carreras diferentes al universo de las artes visuales, pero que por ello mismo, dan cuenta, de un interés genuino en ellas. Desde tres años a esta parte, comenzaron a escribir ideas, guiones, usando la fotografía, lo fílmico en general, para tratar así de representar en imágenes, esos textos diseñados, que más tarde se fueron plasmando en esta obra, su ópera prima. Con ese proyecto, se han visto inmersos en un proceso creativo, que les ha permitido experimentar y ejecutar un propósito, sobre bases y técnicas aprendidas en el trabajo constante, y emprender un camino hacia el perfeccionamiento de la técnica audiovisual.
– Director Statement:
This short film is an attempt to capture, in an experimental project, modern and contemporary realities that human beings go through. Using symbols and audio-visual resources intending to reflex, from our point of view, the pleasant innocence, comfortable numbness and fear of man to question himself, to wish, to sense or discover “the truth” of his establishment. The production process took place in approximately two years, based on a script that was written jointly, on a basic plot and concept of understanding deep inside what lays downtrodden, represented and judged in this claustrophobic place, overwhelmed. The “narratives” premises to tell esthetically our idea were the silence and the directional analysis of the different positions of the camera together with the psycho-haunting tones towards the main character.
A través de este cortometraje quisimos plasmar en un proyecto experimental, realidades modernas y contemporáneas que atraviesa el ser humano, utilizando símbolos y recursos audiovisuales, con la intención de reflejar, desde nuestro punto de vista, la placentera inconsciencia, el acogedor entumecimiento y el miedo del hombre a preguntarse, a querer percibir o descubrir “la verdad” por lo que está establecido. El lapso de producción y realización fue de aproximadamente dos años, partiendo de un guión, escrito en conjunto, sobre base argumental y conceptual, d entender desde lo profundo, lo que subyace oprimido, representado y condenado en este espacio claustrofóbico, agobiante. Las premisas “narrativas, para contar estéticamente nuestra idea, fueron el silencio y un análisis direccional de la posición y utilización de la cámara con tonos psico-acosadores hacia el personaje principal.
– Work Team / Equipo de trabajo:
The making and evolution of this project was in fact the involvement and participation, without knowledge nor experience in the audio-visual field, of all people who made it possible, achieving this way a technical/strategic as well as narrative/aesthetic investigation atmosphere that enriched this creative experience.
La realización y evolución de este proyecto, fue justamente el involucramiento y participación, sin conocimiento ni experiencia en el aspecto audiovisual, de todas las personas vinculadas, con el fin de generar una atmósfera de investigación, tanto técnico-estratégica como narrativa-estética, que enriqueciera esta experiencia creativa.
