In a remote rural town where the law of the most powerful rules, a Young teacher is brutally raped and disappeared. Her father, furious at the indifference of justice, hires two assassins to avenge her.
En un lejano pueblo rural en donde impera la ley del más poderoso, una joven profesora es brutalmente violada y desaparecida. Su padre, furioso por la indiferencia de la justicia, contrata a dos asesinas para vengarla.
- Long Synopsis / Sinopsis Larga:
Two assassins hired by the desperate father of a missing and raped young teacher, go out on the road to hunt down the thugs. Traveling routes, towns, and fields, meeting unusual and peculiar characters, gathering information, and rethinking themselves. Violence breaks out, while the puzzle of the events is assembled. Victims, perpetrators, ghosts, and memories are making their way through history, forming the emotional mosaic that moves the decisions of these two women.
Dos asesinas contratadas por el padre desesperado de una joven profesora violada y desaparecida, salen al camino a la caza de los malvivientes. Recorriendo rutas, pueblos y campos, encontrándose con personajes insólitos y peculiares, recabando información y repensándose a ellas mismas. La violencia se desata, al tiempo que el rompecabezas de los hechos va armándose. Víctimas, victimarios, fantasmas y recuerdos van abriéndose paso en la historia, conformando el mosaico emocional que mueve las decisiones de estas dos mujeres.
- Director’s Biography / Biografía de la directora:
Laura Dariomerlo is a filmmaker who graduated from film direction career at the school of Eliseo Subiela. He premiered his first feature film, ROSA FUERTE, with INCAA award in 2014. She was followed by THE GIRL WHO CAME FROM SPACE, FAR FROM HOME and, now, BEAUTIFUL. Laura is also a writer, dancer, and actress.
Laura Dariomerlo es cineasta egresada de la carrera de Dirección de Cine de la escuela de Elíseo Subiela. Estrenó su primer largometraje, ROSA FUERTE, con premio de INCAA en 2014. Le siguieron LA CHICA QUE VINO DEL ESPACIO, LEJOS DE CASA y, ahora, BELLA. Laura es también escritora, bailarina y actriz.

- Declaraciones de la Directora / Director’s statement:
I set out to make a modern, pop western about women with avenging pistols. Make it powerful and gore. That represents the rage of women against sexist violence in a voracious way. I was interested in doing it with formal purity, but in a modern and current format such as the registration on iPhone X, with its corresponding set of lenses, without containment and with certain savagery. With a clipper aesthetic that leaves naturalism behind and relies on music as the basis for a psycho-emotional narrative. Balance the strength of the characters with strong roots in elements of the female world, but taken to an expressionist level. Fashion as a predominant and definitive element in the character of the protagonists, in contrast to the male universe, immersed in an ominous patina of violence, and in an atmosphere of bloody aesthetics. Like a road movie, the film goes forward and does not stop. The subplots are subtle, like shortcut paths. They support the narrative laterally, while the trunk stands in pursuit and slaughter.
Me propuse hacer un western moderno, pop, sobre mujeres pistoleras vengadoras. Que sea poderoso y gore. Que represente la furia de las mujeres contra la violencia machista de manera voraz. Me interesó hacerlo con pureza formal, pero en un formato moderno y actual como es el registro en iPhone X, con su correspondiente juego de lentes, sin contención y con cierto salvajismo. Con estética clipera que deje atrás el naturalismo y que se apoye en la música como base de una narración psico emocional. Balancear la fuerza de los personajes con un arraigo fuerte en elementos del mundo femenino, pero llevados a un nivel expresionista. La moda como elemento preponderante y definitivo en el carácter de las protagonistas, en contraste con el universo masculino, inmerso en una ominosa pátina de violencia, y en una atmósfera de estética cruenta. Cómo road movie, la película va para adelante y no para. Las subtramas son sutiles, como caminos de atajo. Sostienen la narrativa de manera lateral, mientras que el tronco se erige en la persecución y la matanza.
