– Synopsis / Sinopsis:
When 17-year-old Axel finds out his girlfriend is pregnant, he tries to build a better future for them by accepting a dangerous «job» to make some extra money.
Al enterarse que su novia está embarazada y en busca de un mejor futuro, Axel, un joven de 17 años es asignado un «trabajo» para hacer dinero extra.

PEDRO HERRERA MURCIA
Was born in Izabal, Guatemala on March 4th, 1997. He recently graduated from the Cinema School at Francisco Marroquín University (UFM) in Guatemala City. Passionate about traveling, photography, documentaries and narrative cinema. Pedro has also studied photography and creative economics in Madrid, Spain. He’s currently working as a producer on a Guatemalan-American co-production, a feature film directed by Justin Lerner.
Pedro Pablo nació en Izabal, Guatemala el 4 de Marzo de 1997. Recientemente se graduó de la Escuela de Cine y Artes Visuales de la Universidad Francisco Marroquín (UFM) en la Ciudad de Guatemala. Apasionado por viajar, la fotografía, los documentales y el cine. Pedro también ha estudiado fotografía y economía creativa en Madrid. Actualmente trabaja como productor en una coproducción Estadounidense-Guatemalteca, un largometraje dirigido por Justin Lerner.
– Director’s Statement / Declaraciones del Director:
Puerto Barrios the coastal city, the so-called Guatemalan Caribbean, the place where I was born and where I lived most of my life. This city gives me life, its colors, its music, its culture, people. I am one of the three hundred thousand people that belong to this place, a city where crime and violence have prevailed during the last ten years and, even so, its inhabitants have been able to continue, before any problem, before any adversity. For me, tropic is life, I can smell the characters, I can see them and I can feel something very human for them. This short film is a reflection of the social problems that exist in our country. There is no mercy or compassion, everything is simply very pure. In this short film, the characters act by nature and immerse themselves in this world which many people do not know, I want the actions of each one to have life and influence the decisions that are made, I want to hit, touch and take the viewer to a point where feel part of the short. This is my story, the reflection of what I have seen and experienced, told in a very real way.
Puerto Barrios la ciudad costera, el llamado caribe guatemalteco, el lugar que me vio nacer y donde viví gran parte de mi vida. Esta ciudad me da vida, sus colores, su música, su cultura, gente. Soy una de las trescientas mil personas que pertenecen a este lugar, una ciudad donde el crimen y la violencia ha prevalecido durante los últimos diez años y, aun así, sus habitantes han podido seguir adelante, ante cualquier problema, ante cualquier adversidad. Para mí, trópico es vida, puedo oler a los personajes, puedo verlos y puedo sentir algo muy humano por ellos. Este cortometraje es reflejo de la problemática social que se vive en nuestro país. No existe piedad ni compasión, todo es simplemente muy puro. En este cortometraje los personajes actúan por naturaleza y se sumergen en este mundo el cual muchas personas desconocen, quiero que las acciones de cada uno tengan vida e influyan las decisiones que se toman, quiero golpear, tocar y llevar al espectador a un punto donde se sienta parte del corto. Esta es mi historia, el reflejo de lo que he visto y vivido, contado desde una manera muy real.
