– Short Synopsis / Sinopsis Corta:
Tina is singing while cooking. She cooks for her daughter. But tonight Tina is on her own, and that caught her off guard. She goes around the city by taxi. What is Tina looking for? What has Tina found?
Tina canta mientras cocina. Cocina para su hija. Pero esta noche Tina se queda sola y eso la toma desprevenida. Sale a recorrer la ciudad en un taxi. ¿Qué busca Tina? ¿Qué encuentra Tina?
– Synopsis / Sinopsis:
Tina, a fifty-year-old woman, is making dinner for her and her teenage daughter, who at the last moment says she is going to a party with friends. The power goes out, Tina feels lonely and bored. She decides to go out. Lost in the city, she wanders the streets, until she gets into a cab. Towards dawn, Tina and her daughter run into each other in the kitchen. They talk about their separate nights. Tina confesses her adventure; her daughter does not believe her. They laugh and have a special moment together.
Tina, una mujer de 50 años, cocina para ella y su hija adolescente que a último momento le comunica que sale con amigos. La luz se corta, Tina se siente sola, está aburrida y decide salir. Perdida por la ciudad recorre las calles hasta subirse a un taxi. Por la madrugada Tina y su hija se reencuentran en la cocina. Hablan de sus respectivas noches; Tina confiesa su aventura, la hija no le cree. Ambas ríen y comparten el momento.
– Director´s Biography / Biografía del Director:
JULIA BASTANZO PAXIMADA
She majored in film and television at the EPCTV in Santa Fe, Argentina. Her short film “The hog and the moon” was awarded at the 2008 Programa Estímulo a la Producción Audiovisual Santafesina. The next year she directed “Pathos” one of the short films part of the feature “Amor, amor, amor”. In 2017 her project “En Construcción” took part of the National Film Institute of Argentina Clinic “Raymundo Gleyzer, cine de la Base”. In 2018 premieres the short film “The beautiful indifferent” currently in distribution. In 2019 she directed “Tina” a short film awarded with the “Cortometraje Nacional 2018” fund at INCAA. She works as a continuist/assistant director and screenwriter.
Se formó como realizadora audiovisual en la EPCTV de Rosario. Su cortometraje “El chancho y la luna” fue ganador del premio Programa Estímulo a la Producción Audiovisual Santafesina 2008. El año siguiente realizó “Pathos” cortometraje que formó parte del largometraje “Amor, amor, amor”. En 2017 su proyecto “En Construcción” participó de las Clínicas del INCAA “Raymundo Gleyzer, Cine de la Base”. En 2018 estrena el cortometraje “El bello indiferente” actualmente en distribución. En 2019 filma “Tina” ganador de la convocatoria “Cortometraje Nacional 2018” del INCAA. Trabaja como continuista/ayudante de dirección y guionista.
– Director’s Statement / Declaraciones del Director:
To build an adventure, to give things a different twist. Perhaps, a breath of fresh air for our eyes, a fresh outlook on life… A way to make ourselves feel better. These humble premises motivated me to tell the story about Tina, a gentle and also quite funny character. She is a single mother, a structured grown-up, full of prejudice, who is trying to deconstruct and reconstruct herself. Her daughter is a teenager who is also dealing with her own frustrations. I wanted to delve into the connection between these two women, mother and daughter, friends who meet again after their late-night adventures, to share a moment and strengthen their bond.
Construir una aventura. Darle una vuelta más a las cosas. Quizás una ráfaga de aire fresco, un respiro que nos permita modificar la mirada, la perspectiva de la vida… un modo de sentirnos mejor. Estas pequeñas premisas me motivaron a contar la historia de Tina, un personaje tierno y divertido. Madre soltera, ya mujer adulta llena de prejuicios y estructuras, que intenta deconstruir y así reconstruirse. Su hija, una adolescente que también debe enfrentar sus frustraciones. Quise introducirme en la relación entre estas dos mujeres, madre e hija, amigas que tras sus aventuras nocturnas se reencuentran y comparten un momento de unión, reconciliando así su relación.
