– Short Synopsis / Sinopsis Corta:
Damián drives along a dark highway with his mother and brother. An argument breaks out, unveiling the pain he has been carrying all along: his father’s contempt. A fatal accident ensues, and his father blames him, but Damián does not recall the incident. Overwhelmed by accusations, Damián will seek truth… putting his own life at stake in the process. Will he make it alive? Has he really murdered his family?
Damián maneja por una ruta oscura con su madre y su hermano. Una discusión se desata y deja en evidencia un dolor que carga durante muchos años: el desprecio de su padre. Luego se produce un fatal accidente y solo Damián sobrevive. Su padre lo acusa de ser culpable, pero él no lo recuerda. Abrumado por la acusación, comienza un camino hacia la verdad. Se involucrará en una situación que lo hará tocar fondo. Deberá luchar por salvar su vida y descubrir si realmente es asesino de su familia.
– Synopsis / Sinopsis:
Damian is a 26 year old that wakes up one morning all beaten up, bound, hooded and alone in an unfamiliar place. He doesn’t know how he got there, or why. He doesn’t even remember his name. A man arrives; He is clearly not the one who captured him, however he attends him. Damian now remembers an accident where his mother and brother died, he was driving. He remembers a discussion that reveals secrets from his past. The path that led him to hit rock bottom keeps going through his head. He starts a special relationship with his captor, who will form part of the puzzle that Damian must complete.
Damián maneja por una ruta oscura, viajan con él su madre y su hermano. Una discusión se desata y Damián deja en evidencia un dolor que carga durante muchos años: el desprecio de su padre. Minutos después se produce un fatal accidente y solo Damián sobrevive. En el hospital su padre lo acusa de ser el culpable, Damián no lo recuerda. Confundido y abrumado por la acusación de su padre comienza un camino hacia develar la verdad. Se involucrará en una situación que lo hará tocar fondo. Deberá enfrentar sus miedos más profundos para salvar su vida y al mismo tiempo descubrir si realmente es asesino de su propia familia.
– Director´s Biography / Biografía del Director:
MARIANO DAWIDSON
After finishing highschool, he graduates as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator in Martín Malharro School in Mar del Plata and starts investigating the world of animated design and 3D animation. He makes some motion graphics and editing works in his first 386 PC. In 2002 he moves to Buenos Aires. He is accepted at ENERC, where he studies and graduates as a Director (2004), realizing various fiction short films and documentaries that get different awards. He continues his career as a post-producer, specializing in montage and colour correction, at the same time he starts directing professionally. Between 2005 and 2014 he directs a few commercials and dozens of music videos of a wide array of bands, national and foreign. In 2015 he ends his first motion picture as a director, «The Rooster’s Blood».
Luego de terminar los estudios secundarios se recibe como diseñador gráfico e ilustrador en la escuela Martín H. Malharro de Mar del Plata y comienza a investigar el mundo del diseño animado y la animación 3D. Realiza algunos trabajos de motion graphics y edición en su primera PC 386.
En 2002 se traslada a Capital Federal e ingresa en la ENERC, donde estudia y se recibe de director de cine (2004), realizando varios cortos de ficción y documentales con los cuales obtiene varios premios.
Continúa su carrera como post-productor, especializándose como montajista y colorista, al mismo tiempo que comienza a dirigir de manera profesional. Entre 2005 y 2014 dirige varias publicidades y decenas de videoclips de bandas de todo tipo, nacionales y extrajeras.
En 2015 termina su primer largometraje como director, “La sangre del gallo”.

– Director’s Statement / Declaraciones del Director:
The narrative tools selected to tell this story come from the genre cinema we consumed althrough our lives, that fascinated us since childhood and was the protagonist of the cinematographic narrative reformulation of the last 20 years, the films of the film loving directors. Quentin Tarantino, the Coen Brothers, David Lynch, the Wachowski Brothers, David Fincher, David Cronemberg and by extension Alfred Hitchcock, F. F. Coppola, Martin Scorsese and many more. All that «baggage» mixes with the works of the new Latin American moviemakers like Alejandro González Iñárritu, Fernando Meirelles, Guillermo del Toro or Juan José Campanella. In genre cinema it’s essential to start from the script with a clear idea of the realization and narrative. In «The Rooster’s Blood» we made an exhaustive job with Pablo del Teso (screenwriter), to get a very specific, concrete and compelling usage of the times and the structure. With a deep level of detail in the construction of the characters and the style of the story. This way, our camera job is expressive, narrating the story from the framing and the movement, frame by frame. With an oppressive photography that reveals the protagonist’s feelings and his interaction with his surroundings, through the management of lights and colours. Art and Costume design develop around the construction of the characters and the staging, to tell how the protagonist lives this trip in which he is beaten physically and psychologically, time and time again. All the tools of the cinematographic storytelling are put in place so the spectator lives each minute, each blow intensely. It’s a story told through Damián’s eyes, we see what he sees, feel what he feels, correct or incorrectly.
Las herramientas narrativas elegidas para contar esta historia remiten al cine de género del cual abrevamos a lo largo de nuestra vida, el cual nos fascinó desde la infancia y que fue protagonista de la reformulación de la narrativa cinematográfica de los últimos 20 años, el cine de los directores cinéfilos. Quentin Tarantino, Los Hermanos Cohen, David Lynch, los hermanos Wachowski, David Fincher, David Cronemberg y por extensión Alfred Hitchcock, F.F. Coppola, Martin Scorsese y tantos otros. Todo este bagaje se mezcla con la obra de los nuevos realizadores latinoamericanos como Alejandro González Iñárritu, Fernando Meirelles, Guillermo del Toro o Juan José Campanella. Es fundamental en el cine de género comenzar desde el guión con una clara idea de la realización y la narrativa. En “La Sangre del Gallo” hemos realizado un exhaustivo trabajo junto a Pablo del Teso (guionista), para lograr un manejo muy específico, concreto y atrapante de los tiempos y la estructura. Con un profundo nivel de detalle en la construcción de los personajes y el estilo de relato. De esta forma el trabajo de cámara se presenta expresivo, narrando la historia desde el encuadre y el movimiento, plano por plano. Con una fotografía opresiva en donde se revelan los sentimientos del protagonista y su relación con el entorno, a través del manejo de la luz y el color. El diseño de Arte y Vestuario se desarrollan en función de la construcción de los personajes y la puesta en escena, para contar cómo el protagonista vive este periplo en donde es golpeado física y psicológicamente, una y otra vez. Todas las herramientas del relato cinematográfico están puestas en función de que el espectador viva intensamente cada minuto, cada golpe. Es una historia contada a través de los ojos de Damián, vemos lo que ve, sentimos lo que siente, correcta o erróneamente.
