En un edificio se entrelazan deseos. Lucy quiere liberarse de su madre y pagará el precio, Gabriela y Mariano conviven sin verse, Sergio y Mónica viven para su perro hasta que ella anhela con furia ser madre, Lorenzo se desata atando a La Rusa, ella y la pequeña Mercedes huyen juntas aunque no hablan el mismo idioma. Nadie es igual tras abrir la puerta a su deseo.
Desires are intertwined in a building. Lucy wants to free herself from her mother at any cost, Mariano and Gabriela coexist without seeing each other, Sergio and Mónica live for their dog until she yearns to be a mother, Lorenzo unties himself by tying La Rusa, she and Mercedes escape despite the language. Everybody changes by opening the door of their desires.

En un edificio porteño se despliegan ocultos deseos. Lucy esconde la paternidad de su hijo, necesita liberarse de su madre y está dispuesta a pagar el precio, Gabriela y Mariano conviven pero se ocultan secretos, están perdidos y se buscan sin verse. Mónica y Sergio crían como un hijo al perro Aquiles, hasta que ella desata con furia su anhelo de ser madre, Lorenzo se revela sadomaso a quien no le corresponde y aunque La Rusa y Mercedes no hablan el mismo idioma huyen juntas dispuestas a cumplir sus sueños. Las historias se cruzan y nadie será igual tras abrir la puerta a su más íntimo deseo.
Hidden desires unfold into a building. Lucy hides her son’s paternity, she needs to split up with her mom and she’ll pay any cost, Gaby and Mariano coexist but they have secrets, they’re lost, although they look, they don’t see each other. Monica and Sergio raise Aquiles the dog as a child until she starts to feel the desire of becoming a mother. Lorenzo shows his sadomasochist side to the wrong person and although La Rusa and Mercedes don’t speak the same language, they run away with the hope their dreams come true. Stories are crossed and when the door of their hidden desires is opened no one will be the same.

Guionista y directora argentina dirigió las ficciones Hacer la Vida, El Sexo de las Madres, Franzie, El 48 y los documentales Las Muchachas, Cómo llegar a Piedra Buena, Flores Mujeres Migrantes, etc. Da talleres de guión, escribe y dirige teatro. Guionó las películas El Borde del Tiempo, El Mejor de Nosotros, Matar a Todos, etc. Recibió premios como el Coral del Fest. de la Habana, Signis en el Fest. de San Sebastián, premios Ibermedia a desarrollos de proyectos y reconocimientos en los festivales Amiens, Chicago, CineSul, Latinuy, CineFem, Girona, FICIP, Huelva, BAFICI, etc.

– Director’s Statement / Declaraciones del Director:
HACER LA VIDA narra historias que se cruzan en Buenos Aires, protagonizadas por personajes que ocultan sus deseos. La película cuenta con humor y amor unos personajes que conviven en soledad compartiendo el mismo espacio. Provengo de una familia inmigrante, nací en Rosario, viví en varias provincias y sigo caminando Buenos Aires sin dejar de sorprenderme por su diversidad. Hace tiempo recibimos migrantes de otros países latinoamericanos y de países que fueron remotos al nuestro, la fisonomía de la ciudad cambia y nos seguimos mezclando en nuestras diferencias. Esta película quiere ser un fresco de personajes que íntimamente se mueven en submundos, en un mismo edificio y con solo paredes de por medio. “Detrás de los hechos hay una vida más profunda” escribió Robert Bresson, y es un faro que me moviliza a bucear historias entrelazadas entre búsquedas y deseos, en la ciudad que nos hace protagonistas y anónimos. Haber investigado fue vital para construir construir los personajes de Mercedes y La Rusa (inmigrante ucraniana) y conocer sus esperanzas al pisar una ciudad que las engulle. Al reunirlas en la ficción, la comunicación entre ellas parece imposible sin embargo son mucho más que las palabras lo que las unen, el lenguaje cinematográfico narra voluntades y deseos. Ellas y Lucy, eterna buscadora de trabajo que se topa con la prostitución, Lorenzo uno de esos tipos que sospechamos andando algo oscuro en lo que no quisiéramos participar, Mónica la artista que oculta su verdadero deseo al hombre que la protege como a una niña, Gabriela la bailarina que hará lo que sea para ser Odette, mientras su marido Mariano que comienza a bucear en una sexualidad que desconocía, todos ellos parece que se miran pero no se ven. HACER LA VIDA está motivada por contar las historias de personajes que en su diversidad son deseantes y necesitados de ser reconocidos por el otro. Están dispuestos a jugarse al todo por el todo, y cada uno saldrá trasformado en la lucha por cumplir sus más íntimos deseos.
MAKING LIFE narrates stories crossed in a city like Buenos Aires, featuring characters hiding their desires. The film has humor and love, characters living in solitude sharing the same place. I come from an immigrant family, I was born in Rosario, I lived in a few provinces and the more I walk Buenos Aires the more I’m surprised by its diversity. A few years ago the big capital city receives migrants from Latin-America and from other remote countries, the appearance of the city changes and we still mix ourselves in our differences. This film wants to be like a fresco of characters moving in underworlds secretly, at the same building where only walls are in between. “Behind the facts, there’s a deeper life” Robert Bresson wrote, and it’s like there’s faro inviting me to dive interlaced stories between searches and desires, into a city that turns us into characters and anonymous at a time. Investigation was extremely important for me to construct the characters of Mercedes (a teenage from Tucuman) and LA Rusa (a Ukrainian immigrant) in order to know how their hopes were at the moment they arrived at a city that swallows them. When they gather in a fiction, communicate between them seems impossible, but they get together with more than words, so the cinematographic language focus on their faces expressing wills and desires. Both, and Lucy, eternal job seeker who’s bumped into the prostitution, Lorenzo one of those guys stuck in dark stuff who we don’t want to deal with, Monica the mature artist who hides to her husband her real desire meanwhile she protects Mercedes as a child, Gabriela the dancer who’s willing to go to odd ends to be Odette, meanwhile her husband Mariano starts to swim into a sexuality he ignored. Everyone seems like they see but they are not looking at. MAKING LIFE is a film motivated by telling stories about characters who, in their diversity, are eager and need to be recognized by the other ones. They’re willing to go against all odds, and each one won’t be the same after this story because of the fight they’ll have to put up in order to reach their most private desires.
