Director’s Statement / Declaraciones del Director:

The seed of this project born several years ago when reading the novel “Rayuela” by Julio Cortazar. In several chapters appear as protagonists vagabonds along the Seine River in Paris. Those chapters were marked in my memory and something of that universe was unsettling and very attractive. Years later we started working on this project, and we just started to understand what it really means to live on the street. Mysticism is not the one of Cortazar and reality is another. And when knowing this, the needs of telling this story became imperious. I had to show this reality. The theme of this story is an inexhaustible generator of powerful visual images and concepts that allow literary intertextuality. It is of great motivation to have all these materials to investigate, soak and enrich the project and the film of the film. Working with social and cinematographic organizations, we can find the place of development and growth so that the project has the necessary scope to become a great fiction film that has repercussions not only in the cinematographic field but also in the society. People on the street situation are a minority invisible both in everyday life by passers-by, as well as by a state still absent. Noting the lack of protagonism of those who live on the street in cultural productions, made me wonder if this was because: they had nothing to tell or just that their reality was so painful that it was difficult to see and show it. When we decided to start this project, we understood that perhaps it was due to the second option, but that in no way these people had no stories worth telling. Above all, we understood that beyond the unjust conditions in which they live, they were the small anecdotes, which we ended up having in common. To portray three women in a street situation, their ties, sorrows and joys, is also to humanize those people who, because they belong to the landscape of a city, often become an urban and not a human “problem”. These questions, which started from absolute ignorance, motivated us to think about what little we know about the people who live on the street, from the distant and foreign that we find. The idea of a documentary seemed insufficient to highlight the aspects that we cannot see of them. We decided then, that they deserved a story of fiction, that made laugh, excited, to reflect on these characters, so many other people not yet portrayed.
