La mujer llena el tiempo con pensamientos locos y actos erráticos, construye su espera por el hombre que nunca está. En un viejo hotel la ausencia se teje como una trampa para no salir.

A woman waits. Her anxiety grows as the man does not return. When he arrives, her feelings of anger and love become blame and recrimination. He remains indifferent. The night unfolds infinitely as her own anguish before him who arrives, yet remains unseeable.
Una mujer espera. Su ansiedad se intensifica por el hombre que no vuelve. Cuando Él llega, la ira y el amor de ella se vuelcan en el reproche y la recriminación. Él se mantiene totalmente indiferente. La noche, avanza infinita, como la angustia de ella frente a quien llega y no se hace notar.
– Synopsis / Sinopsis:
A woman waits in a Grand Hotel. The night unfolds and with it her despair for a man that does not return. When he arrives, her feelings of anger and love become blame, harassment, and recrimination for her endless waiting. He calmly remains indifferent. Dawn becomes infinite, finding them always in the same trap. Anguish becoming flesh at the indifference of he who arrives just to remain unseeable. Time unravels in an infinite spiral.
Una mujer espera en un gran hotel. La noche avanza y con ella la desesperación por un hombre que no vuelve. Cuando Él llega, la ira y el amor de ella se vuelcan en el reproche, el acoso, la recriminación por la demanda de la espera interminable. Él, calmo, se mantiene totalmente indiferente. La madrugada, que se vuelve infinita, los encuentra siempre en la misma trampa. La angustia se hace carne por la indiferencia de quien llega y no se hace notar. El tiempo transcurre en un infinito espiral.
– Director´s Biography / Biografía del Director:
JULIA BASTANZO PAXIMADA
She majored in film and television at the EPCTV in Santa Fe, Argentina. Her short film “The hog and the moon” was awarded at the 2008 Programa Estímulo a la Producción Audiovisual Santafesina. The next year she directed “Pathos” one of the short films part of the feature “Amor, amor, amor”. In 2017 her project “En Construcción” took part of the National Film Institute of Argentina Clinic “Raymundo Gleyzer, cine de la Base”. In 2019 she directed “Tina” a short film awarded with the “Cortometraje Nacional 2018” fund at INCAA.
Se formó como realizadora audiovisual en la EPCTV en Rosario/Santa Fé. Su cortometraje “El chancho y la luna” fue ganador del premio Programa Estímulo a la Producción Audiovisual Santafesina 2008. El año siguiente realizó “Pathos” cortometraje que formó parte del largometraje “Amor, amor, amor”. En 2017 su proyecto “En Construcción” participó de las Clínicas del INCAA “Raymundo Glazer, Cine de la Base”. En 2019 filma “Tina” ganador de la convocatoria “Cortometraje Nacional 2018” del INCAA.
– Director’s Statement / Declaraciones del Director:
Every night will be the same, like an enchantment. Self-made traps of obsessive love, like invisible webs, do not let us escape. The story of a woman. A woman telling herself a story. Is the man real, a memory of the past or a fantasy about the future? The short film is a spiral in itself, it begins where it ends and questions make sense to me. Self-delusions, self-deceptions. That man, so longed for, that never arrives. But when he does, if he ever did, his indifference is enough to overrun the anguish.
Todas las noches serán iguales, como un encantamiento. Las propias trampas de amores obsesivos, como redes invisibles, no nos dejan escapar. La historia de una mujer. Una mujer que se cuenta una historia. Será que el hombre es real, será que es solo un recuerdo del pasado, o una fantasía del futuro. El cortometraje es un espiral en sí mismo, comienza como termina y me hacen sentido las preguntas. La propia locura, el propio engaño. Ese hombre anhelado y que nunca llega. Pero cuando llega, si es que llega, su indiferencia es suficiente y desborda la angustia.
