– Synopsis / Sinopsis:
Three Young women are locked inside an apartment sharing their loneliness during a whole night until the morning. Love is idealized and distorted into a selfish and impossible concept, where the postmodern desire is the only possible utopia we can rely on.
En el transcurso de una madrugada, tres jóvenes mujeres comparten sus soledades encerradas en un departamento. El amor distorsionado hacia el egoísmo, la idealización y lo imposible, donde el deseo posmoderno es la única posible utopía.
– Director´s Biography / Biografía del Director:
CAROLINA CORTELLA
Carolina Cortella is born in Buenos Aires. She studies Art and music since a little girl.
Then she graduates as a Director in the Universidad del Cine (FUC) in Buenos Aires. She directs three short Films “Vesta”, “Trigo” and “Deseo”.
She studies Drama for the love of acting and to improve her skill as a Director. She was part of the company in the play “Las Multitudes”, directed by Federico León.
She worked as an Assistant director in cinema and advertising. Now she is working on her first feature length film and works in advertising.
Carolina Cortella nace en la ciudad de Buenos Aires en 1986. Estudia Arte y música desde pequeña.
Se gradúa de la Universidad del Cine en la Carrera de Dirección Cinematográfica. Como Directora dirigió los cortometrajes “Vesta”, “Trigo” y “Deseo”.
Se acercó al teatro para enriquecer su capacidad como directora y por su vocación de actriz. Formó parte del elenco de la obra “Las Multitudes”, dirigida por Federico León.
Trabajó como asistente de dirección en cine y en publicidad. Actualmente trabaja realizando tratamientos de comerciales y está en proceso de realización de su primer largometraje.
– Director Statement / Declaraciones del Director:
When I started to write this film I was interested in working in a same location with three female characters and focus mainly in the interaction between each other. The idea was to start improvising over a script I´ve been writing during the months we rehearsed.
I wanted to show moments alone with each one of them at the beginning, and then see two of them together, interacting the triangle relation. I wanted to create an intimate atmosphere with the characters, which is why I chose close-ups to emphasize even more the idea of enclosure and to perceive the characters thinking. I wanted to make the three of them relate with each other during the night, to express their conflicts in duets, and then frame the three of them finally together in the same moment and place sharing a Dionysian dance.
To conclude the night they, they go upstairs to the terrace, they never leave the apartment but we can see that something has changed in them, they reached a sublime moment and now they are sitting on the edge of the terrace, the sun is rising and they are observing the whole city with a different point of view.
Cuando empecé a escribir esta película me interesaba trabajar en un espacio cerrado con tres personajes femeninos y concentrarme en la interacción entre ellas. La idea era improvisar sobre un guión que fui escribiendo durante el proceso de los ensayos. Al comienzo tener momentos con cada una de ellas a solas y de a dos, intercambiando así la relación triangular. Me interesaba lograr una atmósfera intimista con los personajes, es por eso que elegí encuadrarlas utilizando primeros planos que enfaticen la idea del encierro y que nos permita acceder al pensamiento de los personajes.
Me interesaba mostrar momentos de ellas solas y luego verlas poder expresar sus conflictos, en dúos, interactuando la relación triangular.
Luego mi idea era poder tener un mismo encuadre a las tres unidas una danza dionisíaca.
Para concluir la noche suben a la terraza, no se van del departamento pero vemos que algo en ellas cambió, logrando acceder a un instante sublime y ahora las vemos sentadas en el borde de la terraza, en un amanecer suave y mágico, observando toda la ciudad desde un punto de vista diferente.
